The Pilgrim of the Cedars
Walking the Camino de Santiago
" This story was born out of a walk, and is a blend of my memories, thoughts and hopes. I hope that these pages will touch each of you and open up an inner path. I wish you a wonderful journey through these pages." – Bachir AOUN

❝ When you become a pilgrim, identity is no longer important.
You become part of the path; the ‘Self’ fades into the background.
To forget oneself in order to listen. To forget oneself in order to connect.❞

In this work, the author intertwines his pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago with a profound reflection on social and global upheavals. Through the different stages of his journey, he also explores deeply personal themes that are close to his heart, such as the extinction of the cedars of Lebanon, corruption in Lebanon, and the fall of Damour in 1976, the author’s hometown.
The book stands out through a story within the story: the author reads excerpts from an imaginary book, The Last Cedar of Lebanon, which mirrors his own journey. Through fictional characters such as Me Boutros and Pauline, along with personal photographs, Aoun invites the reader to reflect on humanity and its current crises.
A spiritual and intellectual journey, this book is intended for those who seek to understand the challenges of our time while exploring meditation and inner transformation.
